Natural Hair and the Corporate World (continued)/ Transition Style Update

I'm kinda pissed right now .. well not pissed .. but extremly annoyed .. Yesterday we were told that Locs were not acceptable in the workplace .. ok cool... i got over that .. BUTTT this morning at my training session they informed us that most locations where we was suppoesed to be assigned to work (ex. hotels, boats, business offices) .. dont allow locs, BRAIDS, OR KINKY TWISTSSS!!! .. and if they do .. you can only worlk in the back.. WHAT THE HELL?! I scheduled an appointment to get my twists this saturday .. and now im forced to cancel that because I dont want to limit my experience..... a guest speaker even went as far to tell the ladies to RELAX THEIR HAIR! Your LOCS TWISTS AND BRAIDS DONT JUST GET UP OFF YOUR HEAD AND DO YOU WORK FOR YOU .. YOU DO ... thats my five cents .. im just sayin.











In other news.. I tried the bantu knots again .. they were really cute this mornin .. but this evening .. i looked like a crack head .. here's some photos from this mornin ..

Locs at work

So i know this topic has been discussed alot.. but it was just brought to my attention .. at my job orientation yesterday.. my question is if you keep locs clean and looking nice .. why is it to un acceptable in certain businesses....In certain hotels where i come from (the bahamas) they do not hire guys with locs in their hair .. when the guy asked the guest speaker why is it that locs that are kept clean is not acceptable .. she answered by saying that most people view those with locs as rastas and all the negative practices that a rasta is involved with (no offense to anyone) my point is when is is classified as discrimination?? if your rules and regulations handbooks assure you that you will be treated equally .. why is it that people make these exceptions? and if there are exceptions then why doesnt it list them. does this happen is the US too? Let me know what you think...

To BC or not to BC?

ok so im just about fed up with this transition .... all the style i've been trying lately havent been working out and i dnt know if i could deal woth this any moree .. i've been transitioning for almost 6 months .. but im afriaid if i BC now i wont like it .. what do you guys think... here's some pics.

She has got to be one of my favorite natural models.. her locs are WICKKEDDD!! Actually has me thinking about getting locs haha.. All i know about her is that she's a native of Jamaica and she relocated to the US (New York) at the age of three! From the looks of it she's pretty talented!

I haven't posted a blog in a HOT MINUTE cuz my computed crashed! I missed the internet sooo muchh! wow! so what i've been up to was pretty much just kickin it for tha past couple of weeks.

As some of you may know I've been trasitioning to natural hair for about almost 7 months now I believe.. and I think I'm ready to do my BC (Big Chop) I am somewhat nervous about how its gonna look (talking lengthwise.) but other than that i really dont care anymore because im sick of dealing with these two textures. How I know I'm ready for my Big Chop? Well, sometimes to check on my curl pattern i cut off some random pieces on my hair and I think its at reasonable length to cut now! I'm ready for a new look anyway... I think i wanna get a nose piercing too (just because I think its cute =))lol. Anyway guys thats my little update for now .. I'll be back late

How is a true friend defined? Can someone answer that? .... Through the years, friends came into my life and were gone before you know it .. Many have had the title as my "best friend".. but now we don't talk at all ... Am I the problem? Is it that im too trusting? to friendly? (you tell me.) cuz im really confused and hurt. along with some other things .. but thats another story. Since we all nowadays depend on the knowlege that "Google" provides .. i decided to ask google my first question "How is a TRUE friend defined?" (yes.. thats right i googled it) here's what google told me... "a true friend is there for you no matter what. They don't lie to you no matter what. They also keep their promises. They also don't stab you in the back." Not to be petty but i've had best friends who hide stuff from me .. like they see my bf (ex.) out doin somethin and would never say a word to me.. then i have some friends who would tlk to me stink .. n then i have some friends who simply just dont feel the same way i do about them ... dnt include u in their little affairs....smile up in ya face den tlk bout you behind ya back (dem back biters.. you feel me?) Well i just want to let all of the "friend enemies" out there know that hey if u mean me no good make ur way out of my life .. cuz from this point on .. if i even dream u foolin wit my emotions its operation scissors for u!! (ur getting cut off lol) .. alot of yall would realize by now (if u haven't already.) i do not like my emotions to be played with.. i associate with REAL PEOPLE!.. anyway thats about it.

lemme just start by saying .. my feelings are all jumbled up .. so if you dont understand feel free to ask me about it. Anybody ever just didnt understand themselves????? As you all may know .. Notes is not my thing.. in fact i was gonna make a video but that didnt work out at all lol. Anyway bk to my question.. Have you ever just been confused about yourself?? lemme give u an example .. i'm sure we all have been in love about once or twice before in the past .. and with love sometimes comes pain .. but no matter how much pain you endure you still cant let go?? Hey maybe its just me .. but im lost .. i mean for yearss ( 2 years to be exact) i've been hurt continuously and im still here!!.. wouldnt you think that someone who would stay with you through whateva is someone to keep around..or someone you could appreciate at least?? i mean hey im no angel (we ALL know that) and i've done my fair share of heartbreaks in the past .. but they all resulted from me being hurt first..(i hope yall followin) What i wanna know is if you say you love someone why would you tell girls im bein petty and cant accept that we finished??(time we goin.) or why would you tell girls that the only reason you comin back is cuz her n her bf is happy?(time you say u cut her off) and why would you tell a girl thats shes cute and girls need to be more like her?!?!(time you say you was just askin her a question) .. For a long time ive dealt with the lies the games the STUPID ASS"HOME BOYZ" (yeah bitch i said it.) and all of the dumb hoez ... My question is when you love someone dont you see to it that you do your best no to hurt them? And if im tierd why wont i let go??(i honestly dont know .. but what i do know is that i desperately need change ..cuz this shit is really getting ricdiculous) sigh. Is there a guy out there that tries not to lie, doesnt play games, doesnt FUCK with your emotions, A REALL FUCKKIN NIGGAA?? cuz hurtin ein fun niether is being in love alone :(

Let's Talk Career Goals!

So as you all may know from my first blog post .. one of my dreams is to one day own a cosmetic line. So for the last couple of weeks I've been thinking about a name for it. At first, I wanted to name it Leah Anise Cosmetics, but the initials sound too close to MAC. Then, I wanted to name it Leah Anise Makeup, but the initials sounded too close to LAMB, I thin by Gwen Stefani, and I really wanted something out of the box like how MAC, SMASHBOX, NYX, COVER GIRL, and all the othe cosmetic brands stick! I was thinkin about somethin like Express Cosmetics .. with the tagline as Explore. Experience. Express. ... but that sounds like mail doesnt it LOL! I hope to find a name soon! In my line I also wanna include pufumes maybe, and of couse nail polish! :) ... I get so excited just thinking bout it haha! I wanna go to some classes before I do anything .. like to expand my knowledge on the industry and some techniques! I hope to come out with something soon tho.. so watch out :)!!

Transition Style #1

So my first transition style is rope twists .. some ppl polly call it pixie briad or box braids .. but I call 'em rope twists.. this is how they looked a month ago when I first go 'em done.

After a while i got bored of the twists .. i tried curling them with bantu knots EPIC FAIL! ..the ended up loosening the twists.. so i decided to do kinda like a twist out thing .. heres a pic

Then a week later (yesterday) .. I plannted to just cut my ends .. cuz they were a little raggedy lookin lol .. but i ended up doin this little number .. i like it :) what you guys think?

I think next i wanna try like a jerry curl weave .. what you think??

Who's Dreamer??

My name is Leah. Im 18 years old and im from Nassau, Bahamas... i like being bahamian .. it makes me more interesting... and it can definitely get a conversation going!! You may be wondering .. well hey if she calls herself "Dreamer" then whats her big dream... honestly I would love to work as a publicist full time ... and own a cosmetic company on the side .. and maybe even a makeup artist too... I dont have it all figured out yet .. and I dont expect myself to cuz Im still young... I also like playing my bass guitar (even tho im like beginners level lol) and I like to dance alot too (in the safety of my own room of course.).. Just a few months back I decided to go natural.. so now im in the transitioning stages .. which is really annoying!! My goal it to thug it out for a year then go ahead with my big chop!! I cant wait!! A year seems so far away!! lol.. I see myself doing big things in the future and I decided to write a blog to document the countless journeys that face me! ..and some random things too! lol
