Light Skin Vs Dark Skin (My Take of course)

OK before I start let me just say that I'm writing on this topic from MY perspective.

Now, I'm sure we've all either had or heard the whole light skin vs. dark skin debate. I recently had one myself, and heard one on the radio a few months ago ,and I must say i was a little annoyed. These people were just HATIN the light girls! lol "Well, I prefer dark skin girls cuz they dont have all dem marks like the light skin girls." "Light skin girls too hard to deal with .. they're too materialistic I rather a dark girl any day." and alot of little petty comments like that. Yes, I UNDERSTAND that history has put the light skin girl on a pedestal, making the girl with the darker skin tone feel as if she is less than pretty, and I know how many women spend a ton of money on bleaching creams and do even more extreme things than that. I understand and I feel the same way everybody else does about it. I feel like a woman should love herself to the point that no one else's opinion should matter. No one was placed on this earth to satisfy anyone! But guys this is how I feel! Does it even make sense to do the same things as the light skin blacks did back in the day? or maybe even today? My point is I just feel as if people of color should learn to appreciate all of our different, and beautiful hues that we were created in! There is a fine line between preference and segregation.

Ok so yes i know!! im natural now and i should try to stay away from all those chemicals n blah blah blah!! but man yall i really like this color .. tell me you dont love that!! dont even get me started on that lipstick!

So I'm talking to my boyfriend on th phone and I say " I wanna color my hair, but im scared." then he goes on to say "Scared for what?! You hardly have any hair... plus it'll make you look prettier" So i asked him .. are you trying to say that im not at my best right now? he said no, he likes my hair better when i had a particular weave in two years ago... I dont know im a little offended what do you think?

Lets Talk Career Goals pt.2

Something really just peaked my interest today, and I thought I would just share it with you guys. If you read my posts you know that I want to own a cosmetic line. I really got into thinking about careers and goals today and I'm very interested in starting a cosmetic magazine too! Communications is what I intend to study in college this Fall (im speaking it!! lol) and I really think that a magazine and a cosmetic line is what I would like to take on. I even began to think of a name for the magazine .. Cosmonista.. you know like Fashionista .. cept not! lol I dont know the thoughts are still developing. Let me know what you think guys =) <3

Leah's Top 2 Spring 2010 Makeup Trends!!

So I've been look up the top makeup trends this season (obviously.) and there are 2 trends that stand out to me.


1. PeachLips

This season I'm noticing the more natural looks are in. I'm loving the peach lips!! I looked on the MAC website and my favorite product to match this trend, in my opinion, was a lipstick named "Ravishing"

This is what Ravishing looks like! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! What do you think?

Also some advice for when wearing colors such as these on your lips be sure to play up you eye makeup (eg. black or brown smokey eye)With Ravishing i'd try a brown smokey eye or go with the " No Makeup" makeup look , which is also great with a nude lip.

2. Bold Eyeliner

This is really stepping outside of the box, and I'm really excited to try this look. A bold or nude lip would look fabulous with this so take your pick! My favorite product from MAC matching this look would have to be a Liquidlast Line named "Aqualine".

I couldn't find a picture with Aqualine, but here's a model from L.A.M.B.'s fashion week show(looking fierce of course) with her bold liner. Isn't this hot?!
